  2. 1933 • April 1- Jewish teachers to be discharged. • April 25- Jews expelled from sports clubs.

  3. 1934 • March 5- Jewish actors and actresses prohibited from performing.

  4. 1935 • March 31- Jewish musicians prohibited from performing.

  5. 1936 • April 10- The conversion from Judaism to Christianity has no bearing on race-based on birth one was still considered a Jew.

  6. 1937 • April 15- Jews were not allowed to graduate.

  7. 1938 • 1938- Aryan and non-Aryan children can’t play together. • July 25- Jewish doctors can no longer practice. • August 17- Jews to add middle name of “Sarah” or “Israel”. • November 11- Jewish children no longer allowed to attend public school. • November 12- Jewish employees may be discharged without notice or benefits. • November 12- Jews not allowed to go to movies and concerts. • December 3- Jews to hand in driver’s license. • December 3- Jews not allowed to use swimming pools.

  8. 1939 • 1939- Jews only allowed to sit on benches marked with yellow color. • April 30- Jews only Jews can be thrown out of their homes without notice and without compensation and place in appointed “Jew Homes.” • September 1- Jews not allowed to leave their home after 8:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. in the summer. • September 23- Jews to turn in radios.

  9. 1940 • July 4- Jews allowed to shop for food between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. only.

  10. 1941 • March 4- All Jews to perform forced labor. • June 26- Jews not to obtain soap or shaving cream with ration cards. • August 2- Jews not allowed to use public libraries. • October 23- Jews no longer allowed to emigrate. • December 21- Jews not allowed to use public telephones.

  11. 1942 • February 14- Bakeries and candy stores off-limits to Jews. • February 17- Jews not allowed to purchase newspapers or magazines. • March 26- Jewish home must display “Jewish Star.” • May 15- Jews not allowed to have pets. • June 12- Jews have to turn in electrical appliances, bicycles, typewriters, and records.

  12. Think About It… • Which two laws would have affected YOU the most? Why? • Of all of the laws displayed, which ONE law would you have protested if you saw it being applied TO SOMEONE YOU KNEW? Why this particular law? • Place your chosen laws on your timeline in the appropriate year. • Imagine that your two chosen laws happened to your neighbor (or to someone you know) instead of you. How could you help him/her? Would you help him/her? EXPLAIN YOUR THOUGHTS.
