  4. UN works with World Bank and the International Monetary Fund Requires supportof richerdeveloped countries Providing aid, trade, debt relief and investment

  5. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger

  6. Achieve universal primary education

  7. Promote gender equality and empower women

  8. Reduce child mortality

  9. Improve Maternal Health

  10. Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and other diseases

  11. Ensure environmental sustainability

  12. Develop global partnerships for development

  13. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger 1.2 billion people survive on less than $1 a day, 800 million are under-nourished and 153 million children under five years are underweight.

  14. Achieve universal primary education 114 million children of primary school age do not go to school, depriving one in every five children of access to basic education.

  15. Promote gender equality and empower women Women play a pivotal role in development – business, agriculture, family, community work. More women are poor, illiterate and suffer human rights abuses

  16. Reduce child mortality 1,200 children die every hour, before their fifth birthday. 99% occur in poor countries, mainly from preventable or treatable illnesses.

  17. Improve mental health 500,000 women die in pregnancy or childbirth annually. In developing countries, the risk of dying in childbirth is one in 48

  18. Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and other diseases HIV/AIDS is the leading cause of death in sub-Saharan Africa and number four worldwide.

  19. Ensure environmental sustainability More than one billion people do not have access to safe drinking water and two billion people lack access to sanitation services.

  20. Develop global partnerships for development The private sector will establish business programmes that will target grassroots communities. Corporations will extend the services of their employees, free of charge, to community development.
