AP-002-078 Academic Program Assessment Plan for Psychology and Sociology Second Reading
Background • The Department of Psychology and Sociology has conducted an assessment plan in lieu of a 5 year program review. • The Department followed the recommended procedure for an assessment plan. • The plan has been approved by the Department’s faculty and it has been endorsed by Dean Way. • All required consultations were made.
Recommendation • The AP Committee recommends approval of the Assessment Plan for the Department of Psychology and Sociology.
AP-012-067 Option under the Bachelor of Arts in English
Background • This is a name change from an emphasis to an option. • The EFL Department will have two options: • English Education. • English Language and Literature
English Education Option is for teachers and it meets the requirements for Single Subject Credential • It meets the approval of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). • It allows graduates to enter CCTC Single Subject programs without further coursework.
The English Literature and Language Option has the requisite aggregate courses. • It provides students with a comprehensive coverage of American and English Literatures.
Recommendation • The plan meets the approval of the Department and the College. • All required consultation has been made. • The plan provides clear paths toward the Bachelor of Arts degree in each option, among other benefits to the students. • Therefore, the AP Committee recommends approval of the referral.
