Digital solutions to manage children and inspire learning By: Trey Guidry
Background ParentsWare is a platform develovped by Mir3, a local company which specializes in mass notification software, that develops easy to use tools allowing parents to more effectively manage, monitor and motivate a child’s behavior.
Addressing a Problem ParentsWare was developed to help take stress off of the parent – child relationship by utilizing today’s undeniable use of wireless technology in our day to day lives. Below is a link to a study done by Harvard on the relationship between parental participation and their children’s academic success. http://www.hfrp.org/publications-resources/browse-our-publications/parental-involvement-and-student-achievement-a-meta-analysis
Internet Usage Statistics • 1/3 of the World’s Population uses the Internet (2.1 Billion people) • Of this 2.1 billion roughly 45% are under the age of 25. • Over the last 4 years mobile broadband has annually increased by 45%
Variety of Ways Children Spend their Time • Activities using the internet are at a record high
Technology ParentsWare incorporates the understanding of the integral part the internet plays in our everyday lives, regardless of age, and uses a framework based on Patent Pending Correlation Systems technology that will allow a Parent to monitor, govern, and reward their child based on a combination of SIS (School Information Systems) and Mobile/Home Cloud proxies.
Specific Goals of ParentsWare • Make simple agreements with your children. Create tasks for your children and reward them for their accomplishments. • Reward your children for their accomplishments. Develop rewards that will make chores and homework fun for your children. • Access a safer internet. Manage tools that monitor your children’s access to their favorite websites.
Significance of ParentsWare ParentsWare looks to bridge the gap between School Information Systems and the interaction they cause between parent’s and their children. Systems such as Blackboard and NetNanny do allow a parent to monitor their child’s progress academically, but often cause major conflicts in the household and can actually prove to be digressive rather than progressive.
