Patient/Elderly Activity Monitoring using Indoor Localization Siddharth Gupta Ramakrishnan CH
GPS Signal is too weak – cant penetrate thick building walls. • Cant be used very accurately for indoor positioning. • Our aim is to use Wi-Fi based indoor localization techniques to locate movement of a person (patient/elderly) over a period of time. • Use the generated information to find out his/her daily activities (movements) and use them for various purposes such as medical.
Technical – ities • Use 4 wifi based signal generators and place them on four different corners of the house. • Measure the received signal strength from all these signal sources to determine the object’s location. • Location is identified by the fact that the combined signature value that will be generated by capturing RSSI values from all the signal sources will be unique for a location in the house.
Uses • Use this technology to determine motion of a patient over time. • Profile his/her activity data to and then in future use this data to find any deviation from normal behavior. • Report any abnormalities. Select a threshold value beyond which an activity if repeated or carried out in a way other then normal, will be termed as abnormality and will be reported to the observer
