To Reach Out Rooted
Plants are rooted in soil. We are to be rooted in Jesus.
We are rooted in order to reach out.
Rooted in Him • Let your roots grow in Him and let your lives be built on Him. Colossians 2:7 • Why do you think we need to be rooted in Jesus and build our lives on Him? • What are the consequences of not being rooted in Him? • How do we let our roots grow in Him? • Write your answers on post-it notes and paste it on the white board.
How to be rooted? • Read John 6:63: The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. • What is the difference between the Bible and other books? The Bible is the only book whose author is always present when one reads it.
How to be rooted? • Psalm 1 http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xkavro_psalm-1-niv-memory-bible-verse_school • Reflect on Psalm 1:2. Why do you think he meditates on the law of the Lord day and night?
How to be rooted? • Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? John 14:9 • Reflect on the first part of John 14:9(italics and in bold fonts) • Have you been with a friend for very long yet have not known this friend of yours? • How to get to know this friend? • Do you know Jesus? Is Jesus our friend? How do we know? (Hymn – What a friend we have in Jesus, John 15:15, any other verses that you could recall?)
