1991 • Paul Brown was born on September 7, 1908 • Brown Attended Miami University, where received a B.A. in education in 1930 • From 1932 to 1940, he coached his high school, Alma Mater, to serve an 80-8-2 record • In 1946, Brown was asked to coach the AFCs Cleveland Browns
1991 • Browns won the championship that year and went to dominate the 50s • In 1967, he was fired as head coach of the Cleveland Browns • Brown left football for five years and was elected into the Hall of Fame • Brown was founder and head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals • In 1973, he married Mary Rightsell
1991 • Brown stepped down as head coach in 1976 • Brown died on August 5, 1991
1992 • Alex Haley was born on August 11, 1921 • When Haley was born, his father was an WWI veteran and his mother was a school teacher • Growing up, Haley became interested in his ancestry while listening to colorful stories told by his parents • At age 18, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and began a 22 year career in the service
1992 • He practice writing, at first only to cure boredom on the ship, and soon write to his shipmates’ wives and girlfriends • Upon his retiring from Coast Guard, he decided to write books and be a journalist full-time • After the book, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, he retold the story of his ancestors’ journey of slaves and how the reached their freedom
1992 • When Haley finished the book, Roots, it became a national sensation . Roots won the 1977 National Book award and special Pulitzer Prize. • Haley died on February 10, 1992 • The Coast Guard commissioned the U.S.C.G.C Alex Haley in his honor, the ship was the first military vessel named after a journalist
1993 • Roy Campanella was born on November 19, 1921 • Campanella began playing semiprofessional baseball on the Philadelphia Sandlots when he was 13 • Campanella skills garnered the attention of the Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey • Campanella was the first catcher in the Major League Baseball
1993 • Wearing #39, when he stepped to the plate his first night as a Brooklyn Dodgers , he had hit a home run • Tragedy struck in 1958 when a car accident left Campanella a quadriplegic • In 1969, Campanella was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame • Campanella died on June 26, 1993
1994 • Jeffrey Dahmer was born on may 21, 1960 • He claims that his parents got divorced made him kill people • Dahmer attended Ohio State University for a semester but flunk out because of his alcohol problem • Dahmer attended the U.S. Army , but got discharged in 1981 for his alchoholism
1994 • He worked as a store clerk at the Ambrosia Chocolate Factory • On March 25, 1989, Dahmer slaughtered victim Anthony Sears • After one year of jail time, Dahmer death parade resumed with Edward Smith in June 1990 • After that he killed six more people, Raymond Smith, Ernest Miller, David Thomas, Curtis Straughter, Errol Lindsey, and Anthony Hughes
1994 • August 22, 1991, Dahmer was charged with 15 murder charges • November 28, 1994, he died after an attack in prison by another inmate, Christopher Scarver, who claimed it was orders from God
1995 • Orenthal James Simpson,. Known as the juice, was born on July 9, 1947 • At age 13, he joined a gang, the Persian Warriors • One fight landed him in the San Francisco Youth Guidance Center for about a week during 1962 • In 1968, OJ rushed for 1,709 yards and 22 TDs, which earned him the Heisman Trophy
1995 • He was the #1 draft pick in the 1969 draft, and got picked by the Buffalo Bills • He set many records, including the first person to gain over 2,000 yards in season in 1973 • On June 12, 1994, it was a double murder of Nicole Brown, 35, and Ronald Goldman, 25, at approximately 10 P.M. • During a police interrogation of Simpson, they found a glove with blood stains on it
1995 • It had matched the glove that OJ had to kill Goldman, so it leads to Simpson being guilty • In 1995, Simpson had to go to court and the jury intended for a trial • Near at the end of the trial, Cochran produced one of the gloves and requested that Simpson put it on his hand • The glove didn’t fit • The trial last nine months and Simpson was not guilty
1996 • Tupac Shakur, known as 2pac, was born on June 16, 1971 • Tupac was born Lesane Parish Crooks before the black panthers changed it to Tupac Shakur • Tupac was named after an Indian chief. • “Tupac Amaru” means “Shining serpent and “Shakur” means “thankful to God” in Arabic • As a teen, 2pac attended the Baltimore school for the arts. • Where he took acting and dancing classes, including ballet
1996 • He joined the Oakland, California’s best hip-hop group called Digital Underground • 2pac had scored a hit with the song “The Humpty Dance”. • When he was twelve, he played Travis in “A Raisin in the Sun” in his first acting role • While at Digital Underground, someone shove a gauge shotgun in Tupac’s face
1996 • While in prison, Tupac wrote his hit song “Dear Mama” • In 1991, Tupac’s album, 2pacalypse Now, didn’t sell well as Tupac hoped so • In 1994, He formed the group, Thug Life, with a few friends. Big Skye, Macadoshis, his half-brother Mopreme, and Rated R • Tupac died on September 7, 1996
1997 • Steve Austin, known as Stone Cold, was born on December 16, 1964 • Before getting a football scholarship, he was inducted into the National Honor Society • A year after graduating at the new wrestling school, he went to the United States Wrestling Association • During his tour, he earned $20 a fight and lived in his car
1997 • In June 1991, Austin beat Bobby Eaton for the WCW TV title • By the end of 1995, Austin left ECW and signed with the WWF • On January 8, 1996, Austin joined the World Wrestling Foundation (WWF) • Austin used the name “The Ringmaster”, and managed by Ted DiBiase • In 1997, Steve Austin won the WCW Championship
1998 • Calvin Broadus, known as snoop dogg, was born on October 20, 1971 • Snoop dogg got the nickname from his mother because she thought that he look like the character in the peanuts cartoon • After graduating high school, snoop got arrested several times for drug possession • Snoop’s first rap was on Dr.Dre album called The Chronic
1998 • Snoop released his album in 1993 called doggystyle • Through his albums, snoop became known for his laid-back rapping style and his name has became synonymous with gangster rap of the 90s • Snoop doggy dogg later changed his name to snoop dogg when he left Death Row Records to sign with No Limits Records

1999 • Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., known as Lil Wayne, was born on September 27, 1982 • When he was two year old, his mom was a chef and his dad abandoned him • Wayne has been creating rhymes since he was eight years old • At the age of nine, Wayne joined Young Money Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the label
1999 • At age 13, Wayne accidently shot himself with a .44 caliber gun, missing his heart by two inches • He was 15 years old when he had his daughter name Regginae • In 1999, Wayne launched his solo career with Tha Block Is Hot. • Since then, he released nine albums, many reaching platinum status • On September 24, 2008, Wayne published his first blog for ESPN and continues to write for them
