  11. Question 10: Unlike other countries, Romania recycles only 1%of its waste. Give solutions to improve this situation.

  12. CONCLUSIONS 1. Half of the people questioned answered correctly to the question “ What does waste mean?” . This is 52% of the parents and 45% of the students. Unfortunately, 4% said “IDON’T KNOW” and the rest gave the wrong answer. 2. Most of the parents and students mentioned 1 or 2 benefits of recycling and only 10 % didn’t know the answer. 3. As for the recyclable waste, 50% of the parents know several types (4 or 5) while 76% of the students mentioned 2 or 3.types The most well known recyclable material is paper! 4. 60% of the people answered that recycling materials is the duty of specialized companies. 5-6.The percentage of the people who do not recycle is 20% (both with parents and with children) which is rather high.. 20% do this occasionally while 60% collect plasic and paper separately. 7. 55% of the parents and only 35% of the students prefer the paper ot cloth shopping bag. Quite a high percentage of people (43% of the parents and only 30% of the students) prefer a strong bag, no matter what it is made of. 8. 99% of the parents and 90% of the students declare that they collect the garbage after a picnic although there is a report of huge garbage amount after such events! 9. 65% of the people interviewed answered that they have taken part in the recycling cmpaigns initiated by School 149. 10. Among the 10 solutions mentioned by the questioned people are citizen education, an incrased number of selective collection mas media advertising, fines. Remeber that the recycling and selective collection process is in the beginning. There are people willing to do this, there are not enough conditions offered by the authorities but there are also people who are not interested od don’t get involved.
