Setting Waste Goals Goal to reduce waste going to AKD landfill by 25% in 2014 3
Types of Wastes at AKD: • Food Related Waste • Hazardous Wastes • ‘Special’ Wastes • Industrial Wastes - recycling • Universal & Petroleum Wastes - recycling 4

Industrial Waste and Special Opportunities – • >1200 yd3 of lime mud sold during 2014 outage • 80 yd3 refractory brick sold during 2014 outage • Cooling Tower Rebuild. Approximately 340 yd3 plastic fill material to be sent to Green Source Recycling. 10
Industrial Wastes – Fiber Rejects Success • Approximately2,000 yd3 kept out of landfill over last 3 months. • Demand exceeds supply • Used as landfill cover • Sold for solidification • Used in 2ndary papermaking opportunities 11
Industrial Wastes – Boiler Ash Project • Project years in the making – patience is required • To be used as a soil amendment • Offer ash to employees • Team up with hauler 12

Recycling Challenges…. • Fibers and Felts • Plastic Rejects OCC has lots of ‘stuff’ in it that becomes waste. • Ragger Rope 15
Cont…..Recycling Challenges • Annual Outage • Getting waste in the right places • Getting permitted to land apply holding pond fiber solids 16
