  2. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY We acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians whose ancestral lands we are meeting upon today. We acknowledge the deep feelings of attachment and relationship of Aboriginal peoples to country. We also pay respects to the cultural authority of Aboriginal people visiting from other areas of South Australia or Australia present here.

  3. FEATURES – PERMANENT TEACHERS Permanent teachers in temporary positions appointed to ongoing positions in schools Generally no teachers will remain in temporary (PAT) positions for more than 12 months Teachers on extended leave will hold right of return to their school 3

FEATURES – PERMANENT TEACHERS (continued) Existing permanent teachers, providing not in first year of permanency, are eligible to apply for other teaching positions (Note: Country PATS able to apply only for country positions in their first year) Teachers in tenured leadership positions eligible to apply for permanent teaching positions 4

  7. FEATURES – EMPLOYABLE TEACHERS Opportunities for new graduates, early career teachers and long-term contract teachers to gain permanent employment with DECD Process for conversion to permanency for eligible temporary teachers Temporary (contract) positions of up to 2 years 7

FEATURES – VACANCY PROCESS PAT Teachers are placed into ongoing positions where possible through a centrally managed process All remaining permanent (ongoing) vacancies declared by schools in the first round will be released for advertisement Positions released for advertisement will be open to all teachers, both permanent and temporary (contract), who will be considered equally in the selection process 8

ADVERTISED TEACHING POSITIONS Advertising allows schools the greatest opportunity to select their own staff whilst protecting the industrial rights and existing guarantees of permanent employees The Local Selection Panel comprises the Principal (or delegate) as Chairperson and a nominated AEU representative from the school

Both permanent and temporary (contract) teachers are considered equally for positions Eligibility Teachers who meet minimum DECD requirements by the start of the appointment Teachers in at least their second year of permanency Country scholarship PATs in their first year can only apply for country positions

  25. PERMANENT TEACHER REGISTER (PTR) Teachers requiring placement NEED to be included in the PTR, ie. Teachers who have been in PAT/TPT positions in 2013 are returning from extended leave are completing tenure leadership or seconded positions Some teachers requesting an alternative placement MAY OPT into the PTR, ie. Eligible teachers who are: exercising a guarantee (country to metro or country to country) from Cat 1, 2 or Country Zones 1-5 and seeking metro placement for preferred sites only seeking alternative placement through a transfer

PTR - Teachers in Cat 1 & 2 schools / Spec Service Sites Requesting alternative placement in listed metropolitan schools with eligibility: F Worked continuously at least last 4 years in IoED Cat 1 school/s or designated Special Service Site and still in tenure U Worked continuously at least last 4 years in IoED Cat 1 school/s or designated Special Service Site and out of tenure O Worked continuously at least last 5 years in IoED Cat 2 (or 1/2) school/s and still in tenure K Worked continuously at least last 5 years in IoED Cat 2 (or 1/2) school/s and out of tenure 26

Guaranteed placement in a metropolitan school G Country to Metropolitan Guarantee – eligible if: appointed prior to 1996 with less than 30 placement points and eligible service or appointed from 1996 and in at least 4th year of continuous country service in Zones 4 and 5 or in at least 5th year of continuous country service in Zones 2 or 3 or in at least 6th year of continuous country service in Zone 1 Placement in any Cat 3-7 school in the extended metropolitan area or Cat 1&2 schools of preference 28

Guaranteed placement in a metropolitan school I Country to Metropolitan Guarantee – eligible if: appointed prior to 1996 with 50 or more placement points and eligible service or appointed in or after 1996 and in at least 8th year of continuous country service in Zones 4 and 5 or in at least 10th year of continuous country service in Zones 1 or 2 or 3 Placement in 25 nominated secondary / 75 nominated primary 29

COMPLETING A TENURED LEADERSHIP POSITION Important Commenced prior to 24/01/07 your placement rights are to either a country district or the metropolitan area, depending on the location of your last substantive teaching position Commencing on or after 24/01/07 you will be appointed to a position within 45 kms of where you commuted daily to the position OR if in the country and your position immediately prior was in the metropolitan area, then you may choose to be placed in the extended metropolitan area or within 45 kms of where you commuted daily to the leadership position

SPECIAL PLACEMENT AGREEMENT Teachers may apply for consideration of special circumstances at any time Teachers must complete a Special Placement Request (VL729) form and forward to Senior HR Consultants Required on an annual basis Teachers must include relevant documents to support their request (eg medical) In exceptional circumstances teachers may be granted a Special Placement Agreement for inclusion in the PTR
