Martino Olivo - Dept. of Nuclear and Particle Physics - Uppsala University - martino.olivo@tsl.uu.se flash data and down-going muons • Verify the geometry and explore the possibility to use dg-muons as a way to calibrate geometry • The geometry for some strings might be off flash data (string 29, other strings?) • d-g mu to check if we find the same offset: • we take them continuously • we don't need to rely on special flasher runs • 2 methods: • Impact on quality of reconstructed tracks • Impact on time residuals
Martino Olivo - Dept. of Nuclear and Particle Physics - Uppsala University - martino.olivo@tsl.uu.se d-g mu: quality of reconstructed tracks • look at the quality parameter of reconstructed tracks • if DOM positions are off the quality of the reconstructed track is expected to be lower • the quality parameter is not sensitive
Martino Olivo - Dept. of Nuclear and Particle Physics - Uppsala University - martino.olivo@tsl.uu.se d-g mu: impact of the geometry on time residuals • DOM position is off time res. distribution is expected to be wider • change geometry change in the width of time res. distribution • measure of the width of time res. distribution how good the position od the DOM is • use hyperbola fit on time residual width as function of position to determine DOM positions
Martino Olivo - Dept. of Nuclear and Particle Physics - Uppsala University - martino.olivo@tsl.uu.se run_replaced_geo.py • 3 strings and 15 DOMs to identify an event • shows time residual distributions with horizontal shifts (2,4,6,8 m shifts in x direction) to do: • add vertical shifts • more statistics needed

Martino Olivo - Dept. of Nuclear and Particle Physics - Uppsala University - martino.olivo@tsl.uu.se run_removed_string_geo.py • 4 strings to identify an event • exclude string 29 from the reconstruction (to remove reco bias) • 3 remaining strings have at least 10 hits • compute time residuals for string 29 to do: • add vertical shifts • more statistics needed • check the time res. for different z positions
