  1. Project Features • Planning and Organization initiated by Devon in February 2007, additional funding from ExxonMobil and Shell in July 2007 • By September, 10 companies have committed for 2008, additional contributors are sought for 2008 budget. 11 more companies in serious discussion about funding for 2008 • Implementation of the project starts 1Q 2008. Planned 15 to 22 members at full implementation JIP, governance under OGP JIP contractual terms • Oversight by JIP board defines needs, tasks, and relative priorities • Project consultants manage JIP authorized tasks within budget and time frame • Project consultants develop framework and prepare candidate applications for review

Value Proposition for E&P Members • Tangible results in form of guidance notes, test datasets, and user instructions • Decreased costs of G&G staff activities, e.g., investigating data mis-ties • Increase geoscience staff knowledge in area of known weakness • Improved data management efficiencies and inter-application data flows • Reduce occurrences of incorrect G&G analysis driving operational planning • Increased opportunities and higher production and profits

Value Proposition for Vendors • Establishment or validation of correct geodetic and cartographic processes • Address growing customer concerns in specific areas • Improve technical documentation • Improved customer support capability • Towards industry standards and specifications for handling geospatial data • Improve vendor awareness of customer needs for geospatial based applications

Key Issues for each software review • Evaluation of geodetic algorithms • Evaluation of metadata functionality • Review and evaluation of geodetic and cartographic parameters and libraries • Build test dataset and insure functionality • Evaluation of the user interface • Review of provision for error trapping and capture of audit trails • Review of procedures for capturing, managing, transferringand retaining spatial metadata • Vendor self-verification by new release and version
