Objectives • 1. Define a best practice as it relates to your classroom and CTSO activities • 2. Identify CTSO activities that can be used in the classroom • 3. Leave this presentation with at least 2 new ideas you can implement in your classroom
What is a best practice? • “upon rigorous evaluation, demonstrates success, has had an impact, and can be replicated.” • Creative and engaging • Measureable • Linked to an identified outcome or goal
Core Values • Commitment • Conviction • Education • Integrity • Leadership • Professionalism • Recognition • Service • Teamwork
Common Goals WE may all be working with different organizations-but after reviewing the goals/objectives/missions of each group certain commonalities can be seen. • Leadership • Professionalism • Community Service • Social (having fun!) • Technical/skill competence • Partnerships-reaching out to the community- • Fundraising (we always need money!) Have I missed any?
Round Table Sharing Time • 1. You will be working in small groups to share your best practices. • 2. Choose a goal that you have a “best practice” for, or one that you would like ideas for • 4. You will have 10 minutes to share ideas with your group. • 5. Each group will report a best practice • 6. The work sheets will be collected. If you provide your email-the practices will be sent to you • 7. We will rotate to another group-time permitting

We go to the Long Term Care facility where our senior nursing assistant students do their clinicals. The residents are invited to an afternoon tea. Our culinary students have made the treats, Floral creates corsages, cosmetology gives manicures, graphics can make the invitations or activity sheets. We have talented students sing. There is a teddy bear collection prior to the event. Each resident gets a card (made by students) and a stuffed animal. To further involve students (here is the social part) WE have a cupcake decorating session-each student gets a cupcake to decorate and enjoy. Cost of admission to this social-a stuffed animal. .
