  2. What is it • The art of taking and processing photos. The word photography comes from two ancient Greek words: photo, for "light," and graph, for "drawing." "Drawing with light"

  3. Black and white photos • All photography was originally black and white. Even after colour film was available, black-and-white photography continued to be used for decades, due to its lower cost and its "classic" photographic look.

  4. Colour photos • Colour photos were explored in the mid-19th century • Scottish physicist James Clerk Maxwell was the first producer of the first colour photograph in 1861
