  1. What is Your Reputation?

  2. What is Your Reputation?

  3. Does reputation matter • (Prov 22:1 NKJV) A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,

  4. A Child has a Reputation • (Prov 20:11 KJV) Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

  5. Reputation comes to your mind • When I say Paul, what comes to your mind? • When I say Peter, what comes to your mind? • When I say Barnabus, what comes to your mind? • When I say Dorcas, what comes to your mind? • When I say John, what comes to your mind? • When I say member of the church, what comes to your mind?

  6. Does Reputation Matter?

  7. It did for Ananias • (Acts 9:13-14 NKJV) Then Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. {14} "And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name."

  8. It Mattered for Barnabas • (Acts 4:36-37 NKJV) And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus, {37} having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles' feet.

  9. He was a good man • (Acts 11:22-24 NKJV) Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. {23} When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord. {24} For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.

  10. Dorcas had a Reputation • (Acts 9:36-39 NKJV) At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did. {37} But it happened in those days that she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. {38} And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there,

  11. Dorcas had a Reputation • (Acts 9:36-39 NKJV) they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. {39} Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.

  12. How do we get a reputation? • “Even a child is known by his doing.” • Our reputations are gained by our doings. • Are we doing things that will cause others to be drawn to us? • Will we have a good influence on: •  Our children and grand children. • Those who know us in the community.

  13. We have a reputation with God • (Acts 13:22-23 NKJV) "And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.' {23} "From this man's seed, according to the promise, God raised up for Israel a Savior; Jesus;

  14. Reputation can be critical • (Luke 17:1 NKJV) Then He said to the disciples, "It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come. {2} "It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

  15. Reputation can be critical • (Luke 17:1 NIV) Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. {2} It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.

  16. Help each other. • (Luke 17:3 NIV) So watch yourselves. "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.

  17. What God wants of us: • (Mat 5:14-15 NKJV) "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. {15} "Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. {16} "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

  18. We should be known for love • (John 13:35 NKJV) "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

  19. Thessalonica had a good reputation • (2 Th 1:3 NKJV) We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other,

  20. Generosity is Important • (2 Cor 8:1-5 NKJV) Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: {2} that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. {3} For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing,

  21. Generosity is Important • (2 Cor 8:1-5 NKJV) {4} imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. {5} And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God.

  22. What is your Reputation? • (Rom 2:23-24 NKJV) You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law? {24} For "the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you," as it is written.
