  1. Learn about the origin of the amazing chocolate hills In the world there are curious formations and strange natural phenomena that capture our attention. The Chocolate Hills are no different. Located in Bohol , Philippines, they are about 1,800 hills and get their particular name because their green grass cover turns brown when it dries between December and May. The site has been recognized by Unesco and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Philippines . How were they formed? The most accepted theory holds that the components that form them were deposited in the sea by the accumulation of limestone skeletons of marine organisms such as corals. It is estimated that it occurred five million years ago and that due to tectonic processes, the calcareous rock was fractured and raised above sea level. Rivers, caves and underground springs are also believed to have played a role in the conical shape of the hills. It's amazing legends But in addition to its scientific origin, legends were also created about these peculiar formations.

  2. Among the most curious popular legends , one maintains that two giants went to battle in ancient times, throwing stone and sand at each other for days. When they made peace, being too tired to continue fighting, they left the island, leaving behind a disorder that led to these formations. Another legend held that a young giant named Arogo had fallen in love with a young mortal named Aloya . When Aloya died, the giant wept and mourned so much that his tears covered the landscape and turned into hills . While another story tells that the buried gold of the Biblical land of Phir lies under these hills, which were designed to ward off gold seekers.
