What is Student Support Services (SSS)? • The SSS Program is a TRiO grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education. • SSS strives to provide: • Opportunities for Academic Development and Readiness • Assists Students with Basic College Requirements • Serves to Motivate Students Towards Their Academic Goal of AA/AS and/or Transfer to a 4-year University.
What is S.T.E.M.? • The S.T.E.M Program is also a TRiO grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education. • S.T.E.M. Provides: • Specific Opportunities for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Majors • Assistance to Guide, Mentor and Motivate Students in These Chosen Major Fields
Student Responsibility Agreement • Most, if not all of you, should have met with your Counselor and completed a Student Responsibility Agreement during your Initial Interview. • Let’s Review this Agreement
Student Responsibility Agreement Cont. SSS & SSS/STEM Provides • Academic Advising • Career Planning • Priority Registration • Transfer Assistance • Financial Aid Information • Financial Literacy Information • Social and Cultural Events • Student Workshops • College Campus Tours • Student Responsibility • Meet with your Counselor a minimum of three times during the semester • Be enrolled and complete 12 units - Fall & Spring • Maintain a 2.0 overall GPA • Actively working towards an Certificate, AA/AS and or Transfer to a four year • Attend one or more SSS/STEM Workshops or social/cultural events each semester.

TRiO Day Monday, February 28th • Day to Recruit and Promote Awareness for TRiO Programs “National TRIO Day is a day of celebration, reflection and action around increased access to higher education for disadvantaged students. Federal TRIO Programs help low- income and first- generation students enter college and earn a college degree.” • Stop by our table in the Lobby for free Hot Chocolate and to other students and faculty
Priority Registration • One of the great perks about being a SSS or SSS/STEM student is Priority Registration • For the Spring – Priority Registration will begin around March 11th. You will be notified through your SCCCD email as to when your registration date will be. • Priority Registration will be by appoinment, so make sure to make your appointment early!
Field Trips • For the Spring Semester, so far, we have three field trips scheduled for you to advantage of: • March 18th – UC Merced • April 16th – UC Davis • May 6th – San Francisco State University Field Trips fill up quickly and student applications are taken on a first come first serve basis.
