Energy efficient building management Results of the „KENWO“ project & Outlook on activities in EcoRegion Helge Plath, IAIB e.V. Wismar 03.04.2009
IAIB e.V.Institute of Applied Informatics in Civil Engineering Officially recognized Research Institute Officially recognized Academic Institute Director of the Institute: Prof. Dr. Klaus Fehlauer Alter Holzhafen 17c 23966 Wismar
Development of an affordable energy management for residential and office buildings based on optimized usage concepts entwickelt und umgesetzt durch Prof. Fritz Schmidt Prof. Klaus Fehlauer ENERGIEMANAGEMENT FACILITY MANAGEMENT • In cooperation with: • University o.a.Sc. Wismar • HOCHTIEF Facility Management Essen • Landkreis Ludwigslust • MINOL Messtechnik GmbH Stuttgart • Public services Leipzig Funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) through project executing organization Jülich (PTJ)
Goals and key aspects of the KENWO project • Goals of the research and development project KENWO were: • The further the introduction specific, integrated and optimized energy concepts in applications • The implementation of energy concepts using a sustainable cost efficient energy management system for monitoring • Evaluation of several aspects of the concept using a number of real buildings and gaining experience for real-world applications Datenlogger by ennovatis
Stocktaking and energy concepts • Survey on structures, installations and usage • Condition assessment • Development of orientation measures • Implementation of selected measures 3D building models for simulation
Monitoring • Measuring, documentation and analysis of usage based data • Controlling and observing of costs for energy consumption • Early detection of undesirable developments and disruptions as well as identifying risks • Taking well aimed measures Monitoring concept
Energy reports and online data Energy reports on regular basis for the following objects: District Office Ludwigslust District Office Hagenow Vocational School Ludwigslust Vocational School Hagenow Secondary School Boizenburg Secondary School Wittenburg Secondary School Pampow Secondary School Ludwigslust Secondary School Hagenow Secondary School Dömitz Special School Ludwigslust School for individual life management Ludwigslust School for individual life management Hagenow Regional adult education center Ludwigslust
Energy reports and online data • Assesment and recommended measures for: • Warm water provision • Hydraulic inefficiencies • Taking advantage of the upper heating value effect • Cycle operation of the heater • Reviewing of connected load and rating • Monitoring of generator usage • Night set back • Heating limit / summer operation • Outliers and artifacts gas consumption of vocational school Hagenow am 25.11.2006 Progression of the value of feed and recirculation depending on flow rate and ambient temperature at the Gymnasium Ludwigslust (17.11.2007)
Energy reports and online data Web portal with online data for the buildings of the project • Consumption data for building on daily, weekly and monthly basis • Benchmarking / review (internal and external) • Collection of all relevant information on building(i.e. energy performance certificate, energy report, etc.)
Results for the district Ludwigslust • Saving of up to 19% possible with improved operation (heating interruption, system temperatures, flowrate,…) • Savings with optimized contracts (i.e. changing connected load of long distance heating) • Optimization of costs for investments and follow-up cost for refitting measures • Improvement of comfort due to hydraulic adjustment and regulation of heating • Increasing of reliability though transparency of systems (condition, maintenance, calibration of the meters, etc. )
ECO Region in the district of Ludwigslust Planned project: „continuous monitoring with automated fault detection in office buildings in the district of Ludwigslust“ • Expansion of the continuous monitoring • Implementation of automated fault detection and error report management
ECO Region in the district of Ludwigslust Planned project: „continuous monitoring with automated fault detection in office buildings in the district of Ludwigslust“ • Expansion of continuous monitoring • Expansion of the existing monitoring by adding addition system temperatures, operation values and sub meters • Integration of recorded data into Software for automated processing for visualization, creation of statistics and preprocessing
ECO Region in the district of Ludwigslust Planned project: „continuous monitoring with automated fault detection in office buildings in the district of Ludwigslust“ • Implementation of an automated fault detection and error reporting management • Development of rule based models for automated fault detection of the monitored systems • Implementation and testing of feasibility for other objects
