Mash-A-Thon 1: Semantic Web Held August 24-25, 2010
Mash-A-Thon Highlights • Kickoff from Sonny Bhagowalia, Marion Royal, George Thomas and Dr. Jim Hendler • Over 30 participants from 12 agencies • Hands on training from RPI • 4 Mashups created
Mashups Created by the Teams • EPA Air Quality Survey / NOAA Solar Radiation Data • Air Emission Sites Near Public Schools in Wyoming • International Aid and Taxes • Smart Grid: Toward a Transparent Energy Marketplace
EPA Air Quality Survey / NOAA Solar Radiation Data Team quickly merged EPA Data with NOAA data to display on the map
Air Emission Sites Near Public Schools in Wyoming The team chose Wyoming for the demonstration for easier visual display of datapoints. During report out the team pointed out you may not want to be running track when the wind was blowing in the right direction from those stacks!
International Aid and Taxes Team quickly noticed that the data from the various sources must be using different scales.
Smart Grid: Toward a Transparent Energy Marketplace The most robust Mashup produced that day. A very powerful tool displaying whether or not Smart Grid technologies are working.
