Need of Conservation & Cultivation of Medicinal Plants by everyone • Medicinal plants are facing serious threat due to incessant biotic pressure and destructive harvesting. • There is need to preserve the gene pool of wild medicinal plants.
Medicinal Plants Conservation Areas in Maharashtra * Notification has been issued by an order no. Desk-23(A)(4)/3557 by PCCF,Nagpur dated 19th Jan. 2001 declaring MPCAs as protected gene pool areas.

Marathi Name- Pimpli / pimpali mood Botanical Name - Piper longum (PIPERACEAE) Habit – Sub-scandent herb Part used - Roots and fruits Medicinal uses –diarrhea, indigestion, jaundice, abdominal disorders, voice, asthma, hiccough, cough, malarial fever, vomiting, thirst Mode of propagation – By seeds, stem cuttings and tillers.
Marathi name – ShatavariBotanical Name - Asparagus racemosus Habit- Climber (Annual aerial stem & perennial underground stem and rootstock) Part used- Tuberous roots Medicinal use- Leucorrhoea, fatigue, abortions and general debility. Other uses- Plant is ornamental and attractive. Propagation- By seed Soil- Loose,well drained, rich soil.Watering- Regular and moderately heavy.Special care- Proper support.
