  5. Everyday Lives in Selkirk Hello, we’re Alissia, Chelsea and Cydney and we are grade nine students at Ecole Selkirk Junior High. Our daily lives in Selkirk are pretty normal. We are each going to tell you a little bit about our lives in Selkirk, Manitoba. Alissia: My daily life in Selkirk is pretty fun. Chelsea: My daily life in Selkirk is boring. I go to school and then go home and play games on my phone. I have a job at a gas station in Selkirk. Cydney: my daily life many circles around my family and friends. If I’m not at school, I either with my friends or at home with my family. On the weekends I usually stay at home with my dog or go and stay over at a friends house.

  6. Everyday home life We all have very different home lives, and we all live in different parts of Selkirk. I live in a house in the middle of Selkirk, Chelsea lives in an apartment building toward the beginning of Selkirk and Alissia lives in a house towards the end of Selkirk. Alissia: my life is very interesting. I watch my little brother while my parents work. My chores are doing laundry and dishes. Cydney: my daily life at home is kind of boring. The only chore I have to do is take care of my dog and keep my bedroom clean. Chelsea: my daily life at home is not very interesting. I usually clean my house and when I’m done I just play video games with my brothers.

  7. Life During School We have ELA (English languages arts), Social Studies, Science, Math, Physical Education, Health and we get to choose two elective courses that interests us the best. We have a schedule that has six day cycle and it tells us what class to go too. Once we get to the end of our cycle, it just repeats until we get to the end of our school year. We get breaks from school too. We attend school five days a week (Monday-Friday) and we get Saturdays and Sundays off. School usually starts around September 7th and we go to school until June 30th. Then we don’t have to go to school in July or August because it is our summer vacation. In addition to our vacation we get a lot of other days away from school. We get two weeks off in December for winter break. And we get a week off at the end of March for spring break. We also have numerous holidays that we get off to, like Remembrance Day, Louis Riel Day and Victoria Day. And sometimes we get Fridays or Mondays off school because the teachers have planning (where they plan lessons and activities for next school year).

  8. Extra-Curricular Activities None of us are really in extra-curricular activities but our school and the City of Selkirk have a lot of activities for children, youth, adult and senior citizens. Such as, there’s bowling and bingo clubs in Selkirk. Our school has many different activities to join like many sports clubs. There’s also art club and a drama production that happens yearly.

  9. Choices and Opportunities in Grade 10 at The Comp There are a lot of opportunities when you can choose from when to the high school. Our high school is The Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School (everyone calls it the comp). There’s at least 50 electives that we can chose from along with many majors we can take. A major is a career goal. Or we can take just 5 electives. We all took many different electives. Alissia took the major hair styles and coloring. Chelsea a major in art. Cydney took 5 electives that are photography, american history, and a few others.
