Safe Yellow IC in Plastic Masterbatch • Ability of SYIC to replace 10-15% of expensive heat resistant pigment means Reduced RMC • Low oil absorption of SYIC means improved flow and higher quality MB • Increased opacity can be obtained from the ZnS which is 28% in SYICc and 58%in SYICh.
SYIC Formulation Hint • When replacing organic pigments with Safe Yellow IC, efficient dispersion (extrusion) of the organic pigment is of the utmost importance to the success of the procedure.

SYIC FORMULATION HINT In plastic master batch, because of single mix process, the most efficient extrusion yields the best results. In some cases lab extruders do not achieve the same level of extrusion as a production extruder, and at the testing level it may result in less than optimum results. Some companies will run the trial on the tail end of a production run so that they can more clearly see what can be accomplished by replacing a percentage of their organic pigment with Safe Yellow IC.

SYIC FORMULATION HINT During the initial testing in a typical final plastic compound and prime pigment bag-shake method, we suggest that for the standard color match tests prepare a master batch of the IC based on standard or polymer specific formulations as required. To match the customers sample requirement, add pigment to the IC base until the color matches your upper tolerance for color shift. Hereby, you essentially have established your trial formula. From there the formula can be adjusted as needed for flow, opacity, etc…

Sale Yellow IC is used to reduce the quantity of expensive pigment used in granular and liquid plastic master batch production and provide costs savings and rheological benefits: When replacing organic pigments with Safe Yellow IC, efficient dispersion of the organic pigment is of the utmost importance to the success of the procedure. For that reason we recommend, if at all feasible, that when working in the laboratory that the organic pigment is dispersed separately from the Safe Yellow lC. 1620 Norvell Street, El Cerrito, CA, P 510.848.8890 F 510.848.8889, www.safepigment.com

From there the formula can be adjusted as needed for flow, opacity etc. This will result in a reduction of the organic pigment required, as well as providing rheological benefits. The more efficient the extrusion process, the higher the percentage replacement of the organic pigments by the Safe Yellow IC leading to advantages in the following areas: 1620 Norvell Street, El Cerrito, CA, P 510.848.8890 F 510.848.8889, www.safepigment.com
Reduced Raw Materials Cost — Because heat resistant pigments typically used in Plastic Master batch tend to be expensive, there is typically substantial economic advantage in replacing a percentage of those pigments with Safe Yellow IC. Reduced Viscosity — Sate Yellow Its oil absorption of 10 tan provide noticeable reductions in viscosity resulting in improved flow and higher quality MB. 1620 Norvell Street, El Cerrito, CA, P 510.848.8890 F 510.848.8889, www.safepigment.com
Increased Opacity — Safe Yellow ICc containing 28% zinc sulfide has some opacity (a refractive index of 2.01), and when a relatively transparent organic pigment is partially replaced by the relatively opaque SYIC, some opacity is gained. For coatings needing extra opacity we have Safe Yellow ICh containing 58% zinc sulfide has 1.75 times the hiding power of SYICc, and .36 times the hiding power of Ti02. 1620 Norvell Street, El Cerrito, CA, P 510.848.8890 F 510.848.8889, www.safepigment.com
