Around 40 sources are selected in the candidate list (IC40 Analysis) on the basis of observation in gamma rays or astrophysical model that predicts neutrino emission • Include sources that for years have been proposed as possible neutrino emitters • Include some for what it’s almost sure that leptonic process is the acceleration mechanism (RXJ 1713.7 for instance) • Take care about possible bias when combining samples • Number of sources should be below 100 to avoid trials problems on significance • The extra flux required to achieve a stricter p-value is not a linear with the number of sources in the list
First time they try to combine samples In the past different candidate list were used, but the corresponding analysis used different data-samples
