A classroom in the Foundation House The Foundation House on Cromwell Road What is the London Theatre Seminar? • a class in contemporary British theatre in London • 3 weeks of theatre-going and study during winter break • 3 UW-Madison credits for Theatre 538 or English 508 • housing and classrooms well located in Kensington
How will you spend your time? • Morning discussions on plays, playwrights, actors, directors, and designers working in London; classes may include guest speakers, museum field trips, lectures, and discussions • 9 weekday performances, usually in the evening, in London’s West End or Fringe theatres
Afternoons and most weekends are free to explore London, the U.K., and the Continent
Who is your instructor and Resident Director? • Professor Mike VandenHeuvel (Theatre and Drama, ILS) • Study abroad experiences in London (thrice!) and Dublin • Specializes in Shakespeare, modern drama, and experimental theatre
High Tea at a Kensington hotel What will it cost? • Your program fee includes university credit, supplementary travel and health insurance, special events, tours of theatres and the city, theatre tickets, a tube and bus pass, & housing • The dollar is 25% stronger than a year ago! The selection of plays depends on what is playing in London in December and January The plays and other assignments will be selected in October after students register for the program.
