  3. To form the subjunctive of most verbs, take the present indicative ils/elles form and drop the –ent, then add the subjunctive endings: -e -ions -es -iez -e -ent Forming the subjunctive

  4. Regular verbs

  5. Some verbs, like prendre, venir and voir have a different stem for the nous and vous forms. Take the nous form of the present indicative, drop –ons and add the subjunctive endings: -ions and –iez. Verbs with different nous and vous forms!

  6. prendre venir voir

  7. aller avoir être Aller, avoir and être are irregular in the subjunctive!

  8. faire pouvoir Faire and pouvoir are also irregular in the subjunctive!

  9. The subjunctive is used with phrases of necessity, desire or emotion (to name a few) as stated earlier. • You must have a sentence with two clauses and two different subjects to use the subjunctive. • If the sentence has two clauses with the same subject in each the infinitive of the verb will be used, not the subjunctive. • If the second clause uses avoir or être add de before the infinitive.
