Water consumption Water Scarce countries in Africa: • Kenya • about 50 litres/day, or 13.208 gallons/day • Ethiopia, Haiti, Uganda • about 17 litres/day, or 4.49 gallons/day • Mozambique • less than 5 litres/day, or 1.32 gallons/day Water Rich Countries in North America: Canada as much as 300 litres/day, or 79.25 gallons United States as high as 608 litres a day in urban areas, or 160.62 gallons

  9. DO YOU KNOW WHAT A WATERSHED IS? That’s right!! A watershed is defined as an area of land where all the water flows to the same place. The boundaries are marked by the ridges of hills because water flows down.

  10. Now, this question is a little bit harder. Do you know what watershed IC is in? That’s right!!! We are in the Cayuga Inlet Watershed Ya, it’s pretty ballin’.

  13. What are the issues with our water supplies? • So, although we have a lot of water here in Ithaca, there are still a lot of issues we need to be aware of. Here they are…

  14. Storm Water and Road Run-off • Storm water is not treated when it goes down the drain • It actually runs into the nearest body of water, such as Six Mile Creek, Cayuga Lake or the ground water • This means any fertilizers, oil, chemicals, and ROCK SALT goes into the local water supplies
