Integrity is important in the world of work, but it also plays an important role in the lives of high school students. In this lesson, we shall explore the idea of Academic Integrity.

  3. Academic Dishonesty What does cheating look like in high school? Copying someone else’s homework or someone else’s Long-Term Assignment Using technology to find answers, without the permission of your instructor Plagiarizing answers by stealing material from the Internet Texting answers to another student or getting answers through a text Staying at home on a test day so that you can get information about the test or answers from other students. Did you know that 51 percent of high school students do not believe that cheating is wrong? Did you also know that 80-95% of students admit that they have cheated during their high school years?

  4. How to Show Academic Integrity Prepare for all classroom assignments and exams. Do not let other students copy your materials. Do not copy materials. Learn to paraphrase and provide necessary citations. Ask for help when you need it. Spending extra time learning a skill is an investment in your future. Realize that cheating will not help you on exams of any kinds: standardized, local, Regents, or college entrance. The only way to ensure your success is by studying and by mastering materials. Ask your teachers (or go to math lab if you are struggling with math) for help.
