LUGGAGE AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTURE/ARRIVAL TIMES May 21st – May 24th Monday, May 20th Luggage delivered to Community Gym 7:15 – 8:00 amLuggage will not be allowed on busses Tuesday, May 21st 7:15 am Students arrive at Tyee and meet with living groups and counselors 8:00 am Charter busses leave Tyee for Anacortes 10:35 am Ferry leaves for Orcas Island 11:45 am Arrive at Orcas Island Take Orcas Island school busses to Camp Orkila 12:25 pm Arrive at Camp Orkila: camp orientation & move in
LUGGAGE DROP OFF Monday 7:15am- 8:00am Tuesday Morning meet your Cabin group Busses leave at 8 am!! Busses will leave from the front parking lot
RETURN TO TYEE Friday, May 24th 8:10 am Busses leave for ferry terminal 8:45 am Ferry leaves for Anacortes 10:10 am Ferry arrives at Anacortes 12:30 - 1:00 pm Arrive back at Tyee IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL PARENTS: • Carpool encouraged • Do NOT park in bus loading zone • Parents help unload luggage from district truck • Students leave Tyee Friday between 12:30-1
LIVING (CABIN) GROUPS • 11-12 students • Determined by directors & checked by 6th grade teachers • 1-2 science classmates • Monday afternoon will be living group orientation with counselor and preparing for the week • A very important part of camp is to give students a chance to meet new friends and develop social skills.
STUDY GROUPS (CLASSES) • Approximately 12 students per study group (co-ed) • Students will attend 10 classes during their stay • In classes for 6 hrs./day • All students will experience same classes • Evening program each night • Ork Campfire • Ork Dance Party
COUNSELORS SELECTION & TRAINING • Becki Johnson and Nicole Liljegren • Seniors and Juniors (Newport HS, Bellevue HS, Interlake HS & Sammamish HS) • Extensive application process • Screening (WSP), Administration, Teachers, Counselors and personal reference checks • 8+ hrs. training • Daily meetings & study time at camp
COUNSELOR RESPONSIBILITIES • PRIORITY: Campers safety and well being • Responsible for assigned students 24/7 • Promote cooperation, organization and responsibility among campers • Adhere to regulations, required conduct and responsibilities (School District Policies) • Assist campers with dining responsibilities • Assist with open recreation, evening activities, and class participation • Helping campers have a good time

Permission Packets • All forms and payment due Friday, April 19th • 1 form MUST be completed online: YMCA Release of Liability • Medication Authorization form (requires Health Care Provider signature) & medications due Friday, May 3rd. • Preferred Payment Online https://touchbase.bsd405.org • Scholarship forms available in the Main Office.

HEALTH AND MEDICAL • If student takes any form of medication (prescription or over the counter): • Complete Medication Authorization Form white paper in permission packet • Requires Health Care Provider signature • Dietary concerns (peanut free zone) • Complete Dietary Restriction Worksheet purple paper in permission packet • On site clinic available 24/7 • Operated by School Staff • Island Clinic if needed…
Important Medication Information • Send ONLY medications that MUST be given at camp such as medication that you give daily at home. • Please send “as needed” medications that are for chronic conditionsONLY if your student is under the ongoing care of a physician. (Inhalers for asthma, Ibuprofen for migraine headaches, daily allergy medication, prescription creams for serious skin conditions.) • Please DO NOT send “Just in case medication” such as Tylenol, Advil, Benadryl etc…in case your child may need it for a headache, fever etc…if they have a fever or are ill they will need to be picked up from camp.
If your child already has authorized medication that is kept at school, those medications will automatically go to camp. You will not need additional paperwork filled out. • We cannot administer eye drops or creams. If these are needed, your child needs to be able to self-administer these medications but they must be stored in the camp clinic with all other medications. • ALL forms of medication must have an Medication Authorization form completed and signed by both the parent and Health Care Provider and be in a current non-expired, original labeled bottle/container.
