Transfer Registration Days • Friday, May 20th (outservice week) • Paper registration forms • Wednesday, June 29th and Monday, August 22nd • Online registration • Advising appointments will begin at 12:30 each day. Students will come to advisors’ offices. • We will be asking for volunteers to advise on the June 29th date—similar to STAR registration.
Transfer Registration Days • Adviser will receive advising file with a degree audit (and a paper registration form for May 20th). If the ACT scores are not available, the math and English placements will be noted on the Student Information form. • Prepare preliminary schedule using VitNet to determine closed classes. • Use VitNet to determine closed classes.
Transfer Registration Days Discuss PR courses on degree audit – will student complete with a C or higher? Student/adviser to select course sections to be registered for. May 20th: Student to bring form to MRC 204 to be registered. June 29th and August 22nd: Students will register on VitNet by logging into their own account in your office.
STAR Same advising format as previous years. Appointments will begin at 1:10 p.m. Adviser will receive advising file with ACT scores. They will then determine the math and English placements. Prerequisites – require documentation for AP credits to use as prerequisites Students will register on VitNet by logging into their own account in your office. Encourage student to print schedule when he/she gets home – encourages use of the system.

Appealing placement • Students may appeal their placement. • Math • Students may take the Compass exam to place into a higher math. Encourage the student to study before taking the exam. Sign up to take the exam with Barb Schroeder in the Learning Center/Academic Resource Center. • English • Students with ACT scores of 16-17 and 21-22 may appeal placement into English 099 or 103 using a portfolio process.
Core Curriculum New students (transfer or freshmen) and current students who change to the 2011-2012 catalog Foundations: 8 credits first and second year Mission Seminars: 12 credits, three credits per year Ways of Thinking: 25 credits

Transfer Student Mission Seminar Requirements Placeholders on the degree audit will indicate whether a student does not need to take all four seminars Placeholders will move if a course is taken It is preferable for students to take the later courses Students may need a waiver to register for a later seminar if she has not had earlier seminars
General thoughts about registration of new students Main goal is registration—there will be time later to work on building a relationship. Appointments will run 30 minutes each and advisors may have several back-to-back appointments on a given day. Some pre-planning of schedules is important to make the day run smoothly.
