Sharon Henson LCEDN Third International Workshop 24 June 2013
SuperSolar • £5 Million from EPSRC • Consortium led by Loughborough University with Universities of Bath, Liverpool, Oxford, Sheffield, Southampton, Cambridge, Imperial and the Energy Generation &Supply KTN • Research programme • Provision of a UK national cell efficiency measurement facility • Establishment of a UK network for PV research to include universities, industry and finance.
New facility: Cell Efficiency Measurement Centre • Current testing methods for PV devices in the UK are not standardised and do not allow for technology inter-comparisons • A fast, accurate measurement system is needed – crucially, one which includes an evaluation of energy • Solar simulator equipment to deliver a nationally available test laboratory which is accredited to international standards • Open in 2014
Key partner:The Energy Generation and Supply KTN What it does • Support the marketing and delivery of key events over the lifetime of the Hub • Support the Hub to ensure skills provision is appropriate for the sector • https://connect.innovateuk.org/web/supersolar-hub • Support other funding applications
SuperSolar:Get involved • Join the solar network • Associate members • Network members • Funding opportunities • Secondments • Conferences • Events • Networking • Training • Academic • Advances in PV – Institute of Physics – 24 September
