Epitaph – A saying that is carved on a gravestone that sums up the life of a person, or their personality Ben Franklin wrote his own epitaph at age 22, but later changed his mind at age 84 when he died of old age. At age 22 he wrote: The body of B. Franklin, Printer Lies Here, Food for Worms. But the Work shall not be lost; For it will Appear once more In a New and More Elegant Edition Revised and Corrected By the Author. At age 84: Benjamin and Deborah Franklin: 1790

Project Directions You are going to make a paper gravestone in honor of yourself • Cut the paper into the shape of a gravestone • At the top write here lies (your name) … • Write a 3 to 4 line saying that describes your personality or describes the way you wish people would remember you • You may add color, cracks, ect… Make them look old and spooky
