CED is a nonprofit corporation based in Washington, DC and is affiliated with CED Palestine & WECUP / CED Israel. The CED alliance is comprised of NGOs in the U.S., Israel, Palestine, Jordan and Japan, all working to advance cooperation in the environmental field.
The Problems: 1. Waste Pollution Unlined Dump Sites
2. Water Pollution Untreated & Raw Sewage Discharge
3. Air Pollution Uncontrolled Burning
4. Hazardous Waste Uncontrolled Toxic Waste
Present Situation / Limitations • Local capacity limitations in mitigating environmental problems • Financing not sustainable - Operating Costs beyond local capacity to pay • Inefficiency in coordinating local and national priorities • Lack of enforcement of environmental laws & public awareness • Inadequate infrastructure to remediate environmental problems

The Answer: Environmental Services District • A local institute that provides environmental services. • Based on public-private partnerships. • A proven vehicle for improving public health and quality of life. • Widely accepted concept worldwide.
JERICHO ENVIRONMENTAL DISTRICT What is “JED”? • JED is a pilot project to establish an institute / district to address environmental problems in the Jericho area. • Objective: Establish a local, sustainable institution with the competency and authority to conduct environmental management in the Jericho area. • This JED institution would provide solid, liquid, and hazardous waste treatment and/or disposal solutions within a proposed Jericho service area.
