1. Times / Time Intervals Timetables TIMES There are two ways of giving the time. (i) 12-hour time which uses am, pm, noon & midnight. Each day begins at midnight. Mid-day is 12noon. Times from midnight to noon are am(morning). Times from noon to midnight are pm (afternoon/evening). Midnight and noon cannot have am or pm after them. (i) 24-hour time which uses 4 digits but neither am nor pm. Each day begins at 0000. The hours in the afternoon are 13, 14, 15, …. 24-hour clock times are used for timetables, videos, etc

2. In words12-hour clock24-hour clock Quarter to eight in morning. Half-past nine at night. mid-day. Five past midnight Twenty past six in the morning. Twenty-five to five in afternoon. 7.45am 0745 9.30pm 2130 12 noon 1200 12.05am 0005 6.20am 0620 4.35pm 1635

3. Time Intervals This is best done using “time lines”. Ex1 0900 until 1350 = 4 hrs 50 mins 0900 1350 4 hrs 50 mins Ex2 2.25pm until 8.40pm = 6 hrs 15 mins 2.25pm 8.25pm 8.40pm 6 hrs 15 mins
