About us: • Energy Strategy Research Center, Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC), CAS, Established in 2003 • An interface between technology, economy, society and environment • Its aim is to enlarge the science and technically oriented disciplinary spectrum of the GIEC domain by contributing to research and teaching in energy policy and economics. • Host the Guangdong CDM Center • Host the South China Climate Change Network

  4. About us: The Energy Strategy Research Center are engaged in: • Energy policy and development strategy plan. • Evaluation of sustainable energy technologies. Some measures and policies for the preferential energy technologies and energy efficiency technologies are discussed to ensure their diffusion and industrialization. • Research on energy security and climate change, e.g. low-carbon economy development and CDM capacity building: Policies and strategies of energy security and climate change; Analysis and research on climate change useful technical innovation diffusion model; Potential and cost analysis of GHG emission reduction technologies.

Low carbon planning in cities • Guangzhou • Green economy put forward in 2010 Guangzhou congress meeting • Guangzhou new and renewable energy planning approved by Guangzhou government on 26th, May 2009. • In Oct, 2009, Low carbon development experience sharing with Japan, Guangzhou Economic and Trade Commission • Shenzhen • Shenzhen government issued many incentive mechanisms to encourage retrofitting of building, development of solar energy, electric vehicles. • Shenzhen Energy Group launched Asian Carbon Exchange Market. • Shenzhen DRC commissioned GIEC and Urban Development Research Institute to work out low carbon development planning

What Our Expectations are from this Visit International: • Learning and understanding experience and institutional innovation in U.S in GHG mitigation and low-carbon development • Facilitation for technology transfer • Let U.S. experts know that China is making efforts in its mitigation action, but international experience sharing is needed to make effective progress • Establish a wide relationship with the U.S. counterparts and those who are interested in China’s action plan
