As was customary, Manz was baptized as an infant before becoming one of the founders of Anabaptism and rebaptized on January 21, 1525, in Zurich. Eight years later he suffered his “third baptism” when he was drowned in the Limmat River in Zurich, becoming the first person martyred for his Anabaptist faith.
