Test Time!TRUE OR FALSE • I often lose points on exams because of careless mistakes, even though I know the correct answers. • Before starting my final review for an exam, I make sure that I know exactly which lectures, textbook chapters, other readings, etc., will be covered.
Test Time!TRUE OR FALSE • When I finish an exam, I usually turn it in without checking it over. • Before starting to answer an essay question, I usually make a brief outline of the main points to cover.
Test Time!TRUE OR FALSE • When studying for an exam, I look through any previous exams in the course that have been graded and returned to me. • On a essay exam, I usually scan all of the questions before answering any of them.

Preparing for the Test • Don’t procrastinate. • Understand major concepts. • Think like your professor. • Review syllabus. • Make outlines. • Create a practice test. • Eat well and get enough sleep!
Before and During the Test • Exercise before tests. • Arrive on time but not too early. • When you receive the test, write down important formulas, etc. • Read over the test before you begin. • Read the directions carefully. • Keep track of time.
Before and During the TestESSAY TESTS • Make an outline and write down important information. • Organize your thoughts. • Always write SOMETHING! • Use complete sentences, proper grammar, and punctuation. • If you run out of time, write outline of what you would cover.
Before and During the TestMULTIPLE CHOICE • Read the questions carefully and understand what is asked. • Skip questions you don’t know. • First response is usually correct. • If in doubt… guess! • Answers with words always, never, all, none, etc. are often not correct. • The longer or more inclusive option is often correct. • The option “all of the above” is often correct.
Analyzing the Results • Read the comments and suggestions. • Locate the source of the test. • Note any transformations. • Determine source of your errors. • Review your behavior during the test.
