  5. EMOJI Emotions Activity Let’s take a look at how events impact our emotions and how those emotions can lead to our self-concept and self-esteem.

  6. EMOJI Emotions Activity • 1. Describe a situation that could happen to make a seventh grade student feel the emotion described on the emoji paper you have. • 2. Explain how that emotion may help or hinder that person’s self-concept and self-esteem. • 3. Describe strategies that a seventh grader could use to either turn that situation around (if it is a negative one) or maintain that feeling (if it is a positive one).

  16. Understanding Conflict • What is a conflict? • Conflict- a disagreement between people with opposing viewpoints, interests, or needs What are examples for 7th grade students? What do adults get into conflicts over? • Prejudice- a negative and unjustly formed opinion. What would be a modern day example?

  17. Conflict- Resolution Skills • Negotiation- the process of talking directly to the other person to resolve a conflict • Collaborate- work together • Compromise- when both sides in conflict agree to give up something to reach a solution that will satisfy everyone

  18. Resolution Skills- How to Help • Mediation- resolving conflicts by using another person or persons to help reach a solution that is acceptable to both sides • Neutrality- a promise not to take sides Examples?
