Nature application • Nature applications tend to be about wildlife and evolves floral in the category. The photographer will go outside to where they think the wildlife will be, most of the time this will involve going out of cities and town and going into the countryside.
Lenses • The best lens to use varies depending on if you are taking a photo of wildlife or flora. If you are taking a photo of flora then you would use a macro or extremely small zoom lens. For wildlife you want to use a wide angle lens as it will allow for a photos of herds and flocks to be taken not just a single subject, telephoto lens allows for the subject to be shown at lot closer allowing you to get a lot more detail when you zoom in. A camera with a aperture like f/1.4 or f/2.8 is good because it allows sharp photos to be taken when wildlife is moving, on the other hand if it is low light with the subject moving very little a lower aperture will allow you to get a sharp image. • The purpose of the chosen lens is to allow a sharp image either wildlife or flora to be taken in either low light or without low light. • My personal opinion of this style of photography is that you get to see animals and flowers you may never get to see it also allows for you to then study and identify the species. A down side to this is that phone cameras are improving all the time so nature photographers are wanted less and less for the photos also the equipment can become heavy and expensive unless you manage to get one lens that does everything you want it to do.
Image control • Both images are not controlled and are candid. This is because the photographer could not set the image up, it is more by luck that the deer was in the shot and that the butterfly had landed on the flower. Lighting techniques • Both images are taken using natural light because the natural lighting was good enough for the photographer to take there chosen photo and the light could of scared the animals. The first photo looks like it has been edited after it was taken because the foreground looks darker than it should be but it could just be how the light has effected the photo, no post production has happened to the photo of the butterfly.
Mark Hamblin • He is a freelance nature photographer and he got into photography when he developed an early interest in it. • He contributes to a lot of wildlife and photographic magazines in Britain and has teamed up with other photographers to form the Wild Media Foundation. • His work allows me to learn what I can do when doing photography as I take similar photos.

His photography career has spanned five decades which has lead him to work on every continent. • He got into photography when learning about art and with his love for the environment. He produces at least one book per year, gives inspirational presentations, leads tours and seminars. • His work allows you to see things you wouldn’t normally see because you wouldn’t go to the locations the photos have been taken.
Food and drink application • Food and drink application is of the dish when plated up or the process of the dish being made.
Lenses • The best lens to use is one that has a full frame sensor, a wider aperture allowing for a blurred background, a macro lens is good for detail. • The purpose of the chosen lens is to allow you to get a lot of detail and to be able to focus on one area of the picture as well, there can also be other purposes depending on the photographers style. • My personal opinion of this style of photography is that it can be a good way to showcase dishes that a company sells and the way it is made, a downside to it is that it makes you hungry and want the dish when you look at it.
Image control • Both images are controlled and are observational. This is because the photographer was able to arrange the photo to their liking. Lighting techniques • Both images are have had a flash used on top of natural lighting to help make the food and drink stand out and it helps to highlight them more. Post production has not taken place because the blurred and darkened backgrounds would have been edited when the person took the photo.
Tim Hill • He specialises in food photography and has over 20 years professional experience. He provides work for websites, magazines and manufactures. • He works with his partner Zoe who styles the food and props. • He first went freelance in 1985 using two different cameras then went onto a different camera in 2001. • His work makes everyday food look delicious.
Stuart West • He has been doing photography for over 15 years and has had a range of clients ranging from advertising, packaging and design. • It makes you feel like you could cook it as it doesn't seem complicated.
Sport application • Sport applications show what happened in the game and tends to show the highlights of that, the photos can vary depending on if the photographer is taking photos for one team or both.
Lenses • The best lens to have is one you can making the ISO at lot higher to allow you to get a good shot when the lighting is bad. You want to have a lens that has a high zoom but also a low zoom which is a mid range lens because then you can get the shots in the distance and the close up ones unless you can change a lens quickly which is where you would want to get a 400mm zoom and a lower than 70mm zoom. • The purpose of the chosen lens is to allow you to get the best shot with the distance of the action being taken place. • My personal opinion of this style of photography is that very good photos can be taken as the photographers don’t have boundaries in the way of the action, but the photos don’t always come out that clear as they are having to combat the light changing, the weather and the area of play constantly changing so the wrong lens may be on the camera. Another disadvantage is that you may want to see photos from a neutral point of the game where as photographers tend to base their shots on one team.
Image control • Both images are controlled and are candid. This is because the photographers knew that the footballers and the motorbike riders would at some point move into the location they are in so it became a waiting game or them to be in that location, the photographers has not influenced the photos because they didn’t need to edit the photo in any way. Lighting techniques • Both images are taken using natural light because the natural lighting was good enough for the photographers to take there chosen photos and the light could of distracted the players and riders. The first photo looks like it has been edited after it was taken because the detail to seems to have been enhanced to improve the image, no post production has happened to the photo of the footballers.
Bob Martin • He is a multi-award winning photographer and his career has covered the last thirty years. He has photographed major events like the summer and winter Olympics, to horse racing on ice. • He taken photos of events you wouldn’t believe exist.
Mark Pain • He is a multi-award winning sports photographer with over 25 years experience. He has worked for major events like the Olympics to world cups. • He is able to go into areas others can’t go to so he can get closer to the action to get better photos.
Fashion application • Fashion applications showcase the clothe designs people have created.
Lenses • The best lens to use is a prime lens as the image quality is better. • The purpose of the chosen lens is to improve the quality as well as allow you to blur the background so the focus is on the person wearing the clothing. • My personal opinion of this style of photography is that it allows you to see the trending clothes which is good but it is bad because it makes you feel like you need to wear those clothes to fit in and it gives you unrealistic expectations of what you should look like.
Image control • Both images are not controlled and are observational. This is because the photographer set the images up and was able to choose how the photo would look. Lighting techniques • Both images are taken using a studio because the light required is easier to achieve with no disturbances in a studio. Both photos have been edited after being taken because it allows for the background to be edited and for the touch ups to be made.
James Nader • He is a British fashion and advertising photographer. He studies photography in the UK and then the USA. • He showcases different areas of the fashion industry.
Mike Blissett • He is a fashion photographer, in 1983 after years of training he set up his own photographic studio. • There is a range of fashion for whatever people like.
