Biography • Woody Allen was born Allan Stewart Konigsberg on December 1, 1935, in The Bronx, New York. • As a kid he became intrigued with magic tricks and playing the clarinet, two things that he still does today. • Allen spent eight years in Hebrew School. • Older brother of LettyAronson whom he casts in many of his movies. • He married HarleneSusan Rosen(15 March 1956 - November 1962), Louise Lasser(2 February 1966 - January 1970), and is currently married to Soon-Yi Previn (22 December 1997 - present) Mia Farrow’s adopted daughter. • According to Mia Farrow's biography, "What Falls Away", Frank Sinatra offered to have Allen's legs broken when he was found to be having an affair with her adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn.
Debut • At the age of 15, he began writing jokes for a local paper for $200 a week. • At the age of 19, he started writing scripts for The Ed Sullivan Show, The Tonight Show, and he also did specials for Sid Caesar post-Caesar's Hour (1954–1957). • Was convinced to do stand up comedy by Warren Beatty. • What’s Up Tiger Lily?” A Japanese spy flick that he dubbed over with his own comedic dialogue about spies searching for the secret recipe for egg salad was considered his theoretical debut. • His actual directorial debut came in the mockumentary "Take the Money and Run."
