  2. BCPS Technology Education Mission The BCPS Technology Education Mission is to: 1. develop technology literacy for all students. 2. equip students to become life long learners who are effective and contributing members of society.

Technology Literacy Focus The development of technology literacy focuses on: knowledge, understandings and appreciations pertaining to technology. the evolution of technology and societal significance. the interrelationship of people, capital, knowledge, time, tools, machines, materials and technology processes and systems.

  4. Technology is the application of knowledge, tools and skills to solve practical problems and extend human capabilities. Technology Defined

  5. Technology Education Technology Education is: an integrated, experienced-based instructional program designed to prepare a population that is knowledgeable about technology-its evolution, systems, technologies, utilization, and social and cultural significance.

  6. Technology Education Technology Education students learn to apply math and science concepts in technological systems transportation, biotechnology, and power and energy. Technology Education students discover, create, solve problems and construct by using a variety of tools, machines, materials, processes, and computer systems.

  7. Characteristics of a Technology Education Course Experience Technology education instruction takes place in an active laboratory setting rich with hands-on, multi-sensory experiences in which students apply math, science, language knowledge and skills to solve problems with technology.

  8. Characteristics of a Technology Education Course Experience continued… Students use a systems approach, higher order thinking skills, individual and collaborative ingenuity, and a variety of resources including information, tools, and materials.

  9. Characteristics of a Technology Education Course Experience continued….. Students learn to make ethical decisions about technology-related issues, the safe effective and creative use of technological resources--including tools, machines and materials, and recognize the multicultural and gender diversity included in past, present and future use of technology.
