  3. PLANNED ENHANCEMENT • In the future, Usability Associates will deliver an enhanced version of the original PDU Consortium experience. It expands the value proposition, deliverables, and outcomes. • Elements of the new version have been pilot tested in Consortium meetings during 2005. • A comparison of original and new versions is given here.

  4. VALUE PROPOSITION • CURRENT: The value model is cost sharing and information sharing. For a nominal shared cost, each member receives a suite of deliverables that yields meaningful informational benefits originating within the consortium and not elsewhere available. • NEW: Special interactive experiences is added to the value model. Besides the current benefits, members will also benefit from engaging with external (non-member) sources and getting useful information from them.

  5. DELIVERABLES • CURRENT • Two meetings per year hosted by member companies with planned agenda involving member presentations and discussion • Research report on relevant topic of interest selected by members • Tour of host facilities and work products • Website creation and maintenance • Ongoing management of consortium for long-term sustainability • NEW • Same as current • Contact and interaction with leading design and usability experts, state of the art research, leading teaching institutions • Written meeting summary

OUTCOMES • CURRENT • Personal growth • Increased managerial effectiveness • Receipt of research results not available to competitors or others • Exposure to a range of managerial best practices, issues, and experiences not obtainable elsewhere • A network of trusted, personal colleagues who can be contacted throughout the year to discuss technical, business, and managerial issues • NEW • Same as current • Exposure to advanced thinking and research that could be imported into members’ own organizations • Contacts with potential partners for research initiatives • Contact with sources of student interns and new employees
