Weather Instruments A thermometer measures temperatures. A wind vane points to the direction that the wind is blowing. A rain gauge measures how much rain has fallen.
Different Types of Weather Thunderstorm Tornado Hurricane
Thunderstorm A typical thunderstorm produces heavy rain, thunder, and lightning. It usually lasts from 30 minutes- 1 hour.

Hurricane A hurricane is a tropical storm with winds that have reached a constant speed of 74 miles per hour or more. It can bring strong rains and high winds.
