Training for Counselling Supervisors (CS) • CS Manual developed for ensuring standardized quality of counselling supervision training. • Four - day Counselling Supervision Induction Training • Three -day Counselling Supervision Refresher Training • Regional trainers identified and provided orientation on Counselling Supervision Manual and an overview of CS trainings. • Trainers conduct counselling supervision Induction Training programme for selected Counselling Supervisors in various states/ regions. • Training sessions also to be conducted during counselling supervisor’s Review Meetings • Interaction with experts and ongoing training through E-learning courses and Knowledge Management System
Monitoring of CS activity Monitoring of CS activity is done with the aim of strengthening their capacities as mentors. It is done at different levels: At Partners Level • SR/SSR organise review meetings with Counselling Supervisors once in a quarter and take oral feedback on counsellorsqnd their progress as mentors • Some partner institutes interact with DPO/DS/ counsellors during their monthly meeting so as to seek their feedback and address issues. At SACS Level • Quarterly report of CS activity in the state is submitted to SACS • SACS review the CS activity during the monthly meetings with counsellors and / or District Programme Officers • SR/SSR staff and SACS officers to visit ICTCs and interact with the counsellors about their experiences of counseling supervision. At PR Level • Counsellors Feedback Forms are collated and analyzed to assess CS programme in a comprehensive manner • An overall review and analysis is shared with NACO at regular intervals
Counselling Supervisors: Review Meetings Generally used for : • Taking oral feedback about the counselling supervision process • Sharing counsellors overall feedback on the counselling supervision activity • Discussing other experiences related to counselling environment • Sharing issues hindering counsellors’ professional growth (burnout, retraining, up-skilling needs, etc.) • Sorting counselling supervisors’ doubts, queries, on challenging HIV /AIDS related issues • Refresher training/ information giving sessions • Administrative issues related to counselling supervision (targets set, completed, planning, etc.) • Other issues raised by counselling supervisors individually or collectively
