Introduction • Due to the advancement of technologies in the field of power systems, the analysis of these becomes increasingly complex and therefore it requires the use of computational tools that help us with this wasteful work. http://www.cooperindustries.com/content/dam/public/powersystems/products/power_engineering/images/spotlight/banner_CYME1.jpg
ElectricalPowerSystem software In the United States alone, power systems engineering is a $100 billion industry. The goal of these systems is to ensure that potential electrical power problems are "engineered-out" of the design, prior to a facility being constructed.
ElectricalPowerSystem software There are a wide range of electrical engineering tests that can be performed on a power systems CAD model. These include tests for: • Short Circuit Analysis • AC and DC Arc Flash • Protective Device Coordination • Power Flow • Cable Pulling • Power System Reliability • Electromagnetic Transient Analysis • Cable Ampacity • Induction Motor Parameter Estimation • Transmission Line Parameters • Power System Optimization • Advanced Substation Grounding Grid Design • Advanced Motor Starting • Voltage Stability and Contingency Analysis
Matlab • Itisuseful in orderto do simple simulationsorwithoutbigcomplexity. • Direct access to MATLAB and simulink environment. • Model calibration can be added, which enables parameter estimation.
Matlab • It has problems with specific analysis • Only mathematical modeling. • Model overview is not as good as in programs that enable electrical modeling. • Many models only include part of the behavior of actual components
NEPLAN • Neplanoffersthefirst web-basedpowersystemengineering software. • It Counts with analysis of water, gas and district heating networks. • It has compatibility with a lot of programming languages such as C++ or with Matlab. • No other tool on the market provides so many analysis functions for transmission, distribution, industrial, marine and offshore networks.
Easy Power • You can addormodifyanylibrary of theprogram in ordertoenhanceit and add new devices and features • It is compatible with other programs like Autocad and you can import or export files in .dwg • EasyPower is used by some branches of the government • It is easy to use because the graphical interface is similar with other electrical softwares
SPARD • Turnkey systems integrating SPARD modules with SCADA and commercial information systems CIS, ERP and Hardware configurations and supply. • In our country it counts with courses, training and customer support includesIVR (InteractiveVoice Response). • SPARD countswithmobilesolutionstorunoncomputers, smartphonesortablets. • It has a Geographic Information System (GIS) specially designed for electrical networks. It enables the creation of grid elements geographically.
PowerWorld • Powerworldoffersgeneratorcostmodelsallowtochangetheprice of thegeneration and gettendencies of locational marginal price • To visualize real-time conditions in the control room and remotely. • Powerworldaccesses to power system information and analysis in a user-friendly format • Transmission atlas is a librarywhereyou can seethetransmissionsystem in northamerica
DigSILENT • DigSILENTis simple to use and runsimulationsi.ewith load flowanylisis. • ItoffersanTechno-Economic evaluation of grid expansion strategies. • Provides a reliable central protection settings database and management system for the complete power system substation data. • DIgSILENT Grid Code v1.0, in response to the need to verify if a generator is compliant with local Grid Code requirements on the basis of unit tests executed.
Conclusions • In recent years have been a big development of software and they count nowadays with a great industry. • In the market exist a wide range of electrical power system software each one of them with different features and performance. • The choice of any of them depends on you and the requirement of the analysis and the complexity of this.
