Interregional co-operation -> Legislation and processes may differ between regions
Lakepromo - OUTPUTS -Country-specific information packages on lake / wetland management and restoration procedures (Joint Summary Manual) -> building blocks for practical co-operation -Pilot areas: best practices are formulated and tested (Manual of Practical Tools) -> experiences from other regions, planning in co-operation with all Lakepromo-countries (excursions, workshops, consultations on specific measures) - International and local seminars on different themes, web-pages -> Networks, pooling knowhow and research results -> Plan for continuity
Pilot areas: -separate lakes or lake areas -wetland areas -a lagoon/ coastal area -a village
Lakepromo – Case Lake Ferto (HU) Lake Ferto / Neusiedlersee is a large, shallow border lake (Hungary / Austria) Conference to stakeholders in 2005 -> workshop with experts from Lakepromo-countries -> strategic plan includes all the main stakeholders (authorities, farmers, sectors of fishery, tourism, research, national parks..)
Lakepromo – Case Lake Pryazinskoe (RU) In Karelia the concept of water management and restoration is totally new for local inhabitants -> new ways to motivate people to protect their home lake (workshops, experiences from other regions) -> Environmental education, village events at the lakeside (local people – authorities), informative material, consultations with enterprises, farms
Lakepromo – Case Kaislastenlahti (FI) Kaislastenlahti is a small village (rural area) in Kuopio.
