Average 20% more entries mid Sep 18 to Jan 19 • Volume of entries remained high through to end of May 19 • BMSB seasonal measures is the primary driver for the higher year on year volumes • Note: BMSB related work volumes continue beyond the end of season in April 19 due to goods shipped inside the season from Europe and USA continuing to arrive throughout May 19.
Scheduled overtime commenced mid Sep 18 when BMSB began impacting workload and service standard • Approximately 14,000 hours of overtime required in ASG to manage volumes from mid Sep to June 19
Call volumes increased significantly at the commencement of BMSB season in September 2018 • CCG received upwards of 1000 calls per day (an increase in over 30% year on year) in October and November 2018 driven by enquiries and complaints about delays and inspection availability • High call volumes increased pressure on CCG staff who were already managing the increased number of inspection requests (next slide)
Inspection increases also correlate to the BMSB season in Sep 18 with significant increases observed from November • Increased year on year volumes have continued into May 2019 and only receded in June 19
