2. Commas with Coordinate Adjectives • Coordinate adjectives are two or more adjectives that describe the same noun equally. • They need to be separated with a comma. For example: • A cool, windy night. • You can put “and” between them or reverse the order, and the phrase still makes sense.

3. Commas with Coordinate Adjectives • If the adjectives (1) can not be reversed and (2) don’t sound right with “and,” they are not coordinate adjectives and don’t need a comma. For example: • I just bought two used bookcases.

4. Practice • Write the sentences, putting commas where needed. Write a C if the sentence is correct. • 1. The sweet fragrant odor of the flowers filled the room. • 2. It was a warm moist spot in the garden. • 3. The three red balls sat in the corner. • 4. There were two shiny black limousines parked outside. • 5. She purchased some comfortable inexpensive shoes. • 6. We looked forwarded to the exciting fun-filled trip. • 7. The ugly heavy machine blocked the aisle. • 8. Two yellow and black butterflies perched on the rail.
