What is a 4-H Presentation? • Demonstration: Show and tell how to do something using materials and posters • Illustrated Talk: Describe how to do something using only posters • Public Speech: Talk without any visual aids. • Power Point Presentation: Talk about your subject using electronic audio-visuals
Planning Your Presentation • Ask yourself: What will the presentation show? Why do others want to know about it? Who is the audience? Where will it be given? How can I make the subject interesting?
Organizing Your Talk • Part I - Introduction • Part II - The Body • Part III - The Summary
Introduction • Interest getter • Make audience feel you are worth listening to • Tell them why you feel this subject is important • Keep it brief
Body • Action part of your presentation • One step at a time • Describe what you are doing when you do it • Keep it simple and neat • Use visual aids to assist you • Include interesting information to fill in empty time gaps

How Much Time? • 2-5 minutes for Cloverbuds and Juniors (5-11 years old) • 5-10 minutes for Intermediates (12-13 years old) • 10-15 minutes for Seniors (14 - 19 years old)
Visual Aids to Help Along • Use posters large enough to be seen (22” x 28”) • Use large letters (2 1/2” - 3”) • Stick to 2-3 colors - Dark letters on light background • Keep it simple • Make sure you can handle all your posters
