Winning at any cost and losing it all • Sacrifice of Jephthah’s daughter: Judges 11: 29-40 Desperation is a dangerous state of mind: (vs.29-31) • Aggressive military strategy motivated a senseless vow. • The spirit of the Lord being upon Jephthah did not mean that God was in control of Jephthah • It is never wise to “bargain” with God for personal gain.
