  2. Major Event/ Complication The major event that happened on this mission was the explosion of an oxygen tank. This explosion caused complications including; loss of electricity, shortage of water, loss of heat and loss of the navigation system. The crew had to rely on the Sun to navigate back to earth, they landed safely in the Pacific Ocean. This mission was called “a successful failure”. (wikipedia.com)

  6. Interesting Facts :1)Ken Mattingly was supposed to be the command module pilot but had to be replaced due to exposure to the German measles. (wikepedia.com)2) After the crew landed in the Pacific Ocean, the USS Iwa Jima picked them up and took them to land. (nasa.gov)3) The crew did not travel on a shuttle because the shuttle had not been invented yet. They traveled on a rocket, known as Saturn V with a command module and a lunar module. (space.com)
